Soft Tissue Grafting
Dr. Silc makes your surgical experience less daunting and more comfortable.
Stopping Gum Recession
Improve your gumline with a soft tissue graft.
Periodontal disease, trauma, and aging are just some common causes of gum recession. If left untreated, this issue can become a much bigger problem and lead to complications such as root exposure and gum deterioration.
When your teeth’s roots become exposed, you can experience increased sensitivity when eating or drinking. Also, your body’s natural defense mechanisms are compromised, making you more vulnerable to bacteria or trauma.
If you are experiencing the impact of gum recession, then soft tissue grafting can restore your confidence and your gumline. The main goals of this procedure are to cover the exposed root or thicken the existing gum tissue to prevent further tissue loss.

Types of Soft Tissue Grafts
There are three types of gum grafts we use at Silc Periodontics:…Learn more about us on the homepage…
Connective Tissue Graft
During this common grafting procedure, the tissue is removed from a small flap in the back of your mouth and sutured to the exposed tooth root.
Free Gingival Graft
This is similar to connective tissue grafts, but the strip of tissue is removed from the roof of your mouth (palate). It helps to thicken existing tissue and promote natural growth.
Allograft
This type of graft (aka Alloderm) is obtained from a donor source. It used as a substitute for palatal connective tissue in the treatment of gingival recession. Alloderm procedures gain predictable root coverage and have highly esthetic results.
